Woman accused of stealing $27K from her employer

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. — A woman has been charged with breach of trust after being accused of stealing thousands of dollars from her employer.

Tina Jo Simmons was the bookkeeper for Welders Supply House on Asheville Highway in Spartanburg, according to the police report.

The vice president of Welders Supply said after Simmons was recently fired, he checked on the bookkeeping, and found that between Dec. 1 2012 and Dec. 1, 2013, more than $27,000 was missing.

The vice president said that when she was confronted, Simmons admitted to the theft.

Simmons is charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent, value of more than $10,000.
